I’m claiming my January to be Gentle January! Or Damp January!
Catch my drift…
I had high hopes of going into the New Year with a clear mind and resetting my nutrition, health, etc… and, well, here I am.
I came to realize that that just didn’t fit my life right now – and that’s ok!
I didn’t fail!
I have shared a bit on stories recently about how January is a blur for me- after the excitement and build up for the holidays (hello, crazy Christmas lady here), I come crashing down after the New Year. No more decorations, no more glam red lipstick, back to the basics.
This year I have made a conscious effort to not commit to any New Years resolutions – the pressure of these resolutions and expectations are not healthy for me, so instead I am opting for a more gentle January. I am adopting some healthier habits and respecting my own boundaries one day at a time. Every day looks different – some days I choose to cook a healthy meal (using my new air fryer), other days I unshove the shiz and organize my house with new beautiful baskets.
You all can understand the challenges the past year presented. 2021 deserves the same amount of grace!

I’ve gone against what I know with #shovethatshiz and have been dedicated to all things organizing. I can’t believe it, but since doing our renovation I’ve slowly gone through cabinets, closets, and drawers finding a place for everything. My new love of assigning a home for everything and not just shoving it in a cabinet is a bit frightening! Haha!
Here’s a look into what our January has looked like so far. Henry’s full virtual learning. Oli is in and out of school – currently closed until January 28th due to a COVID exposure.
Henry pulled out a tooth during reading class!
Coffee dates with my best girl! We wake up before the boys and sneak downstairs to make our coffee (water for Oli) and sit together in the “fancy room” as Oli calls it! It’s not fancy at all… but during Quarantine the kids would dress up, we’d take out their disco lights and have dance parties in there.
The plate obsession continues!
Large Dinner Plate (set of 4) | Small Salad Plate (set of 4) | Blue Plate | White Scalloped Plate (set of 4)
I shared this image on Instagram yesterday and I love how the plates look hung on the walls.
I took this flour canister from Target and removed the cap, turned the “flour” label to the back and use it for all of our utensils.
I splurged on this round board from Etsy and I love it so much… I struggled finding one this size so finally went for it! It was my birthday present! 🙂 The wood paddle board is from Target – the picture online isn’t a perfect representation of what it looks like in person.
Our favorite cookbook, The Saltwater Table that we picked up years ago from Amelia Island and we use it often!
Our kitchen hardware is by Vesta Hardware and it is the Ronan collection in Unlacquered Brass. We used their knobs, pulls and appliance pulls throughout our renovation (kitchen, pantry/ bar, mudroom/ laundry).
I love how much these white salad plates (come in a pack of 4) add texture to our walls.
In love with everything from Target right now! I purchased this basket and this faux plant!
I recently discovered Artfully Walls and I’m in love with their concept. You pick the art that you want (SO MANY GORGEOUS OPTIONS) and you can purchase just the print or canvas or you can purchase it framed. They have several framing options that I love and you can add a matte as well. Here’s the exact one that I purchased in this picture. Frame, matte and print all came assembled and shipping was REALLY quick!
Here are some others that I love!
Sweet girl! I love that she has to drink out of a coffee mug in the mornings just like mommy!
Henry finally got his haircut! He looks so grown up!
Oli started gymnastics and LOVES it!
Lots of girl snuggles!
The kiddos switch off having coffee with mommy on the weekends! It’s a really sweet one-on-one time together and our coffees might only last 5-10 minutes (max) but they’re SO excited to come downstairs with just mommy and drink coffee together. They get to pick out their coffee mugs and chose between water or orange juice. I always ask them to, “tell me something I don’t know about you?” When I asked Henry during this coffee date he told me that I didn’t know that he could do 5 pull ups in a row followed by 5 pushups, lol!
These Amazon pajamas are so cute! I purchased them back in September and they were a little too big, but fit perfect now!
I had my first wedding of the new year this past weekend and my bride was STUNNING!
Olive’s favorite part of the weekend… donut Sunday’s! Linking our barstools here – in color Coastal Blue.
Henry started ninja gymnastics and he loves it! My heart hurts for these kiddos who are virtual learning from home full time and not around kiddos. I’m trying to find little activities so Henry can stay active and make friends. He was in a POD two days a week, but that ended back in October. He then went in person for 10 days before our district went full remote. If you have anything in mind that I can do with Henry to get him around kiddos and keep him active please let me know. He gets a bit lonely at home all week/ weekend.
Whew! That was a long one! I hope y’all are doing well and thanks for making it this far! That was a major brain dump for January! xx

I absolutely LOVE everything about your kitchen (and heck, just your decor in general). Do you have a link for the white light fixture in your breakfast nook?

I’d love to know what material your countertops are. They look like they’re marble. How are they holding up with your kids?

Can you link the fixture in your breakfast nook? Also love that this wasn’t a sponsored post and just things you’re loving because I love your home style.
