Late again with posting my summary of my 36th week. I should have posted LAST Thursday. Today, I’m 38 weeks. Crazy. Dear John Henry,
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present”. ~ Bil Keane
I came across this quote on March 20th, just 9 days before finding out that our prayers had been answered and you were on the way. You are our gift from God. Now here we are, with just weeks left until we meet your sweet face and our dreams become our reality. We feel like our life is just now starting. You’re truly the blessing we always hoped for and as much as I don’t want to rush the days away during this pregnancy… I just can’t get what it’s going to be like, once you’re here, out of my mind. We love you!
I know I say it all the time, but if I was to rewind time and go back a year ago… I’d never picture that we would be here, where we are, right now.
“Can’t give up…”! ” Sining MERCY will we overcome this”! “Me and you and you and me”! “Til there is no reason”! “Lift up your heart”! “Don’t give up”! “Stand up for what we need to be”! ~ Dave Matthews
A song that both your Daddy and I grew to love and connect with. We never gave up and we always lifted our hearts. We couldn’t be more thankful for you.
I can’t wait to love you tight,
Mommy
Size of babe: A watermelon, people! We’ve graduated to a watermelon! 19-22″ and 6.5lbs! Wow!
Weight gain: I don’t know how this jump happened… not one bit, but it did… so here’s where I proudly stand! 🙂 According to the doc’s scale I’m up 35lbs (1.8lbs). I literally don’t know how that happened, it’s not like I’ve been chowing down. In fact, if anything, my appetite seems to be decreasing. According to my scale… hold your breath… I’m up 39lbs.
Birthing process update: Went to the doctor on Wednesday at 36 weeks 6 days. I got the whopping cough shot, thanks to watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians, I’m fully aware the importance of this shot. 😉
No other new changes. Not effaced, not dilated. I’m praying that my water breaks on my own, in one of our classes they said only 12% of women actually experience this… I’m also hopeful that they little man will make his appearance on my birthday, December 7th. My doc is also on call that entire weekend.
Seeing the little man on the ultrasound screen is so surreal. He no longer looks like an alien. It’s unbelievable how he looks like a precious little baby. I pray that he has my hubby’s looks 😉 I was the ugliest baby. I’m pretty sure he’s a mini John though… b/c he’s too cute to take after me!
Saturday, November 16th is my last wedding of the year… my last client is on Friday, November 22nd. Next week I will be packing my hospital bag! 🙂
Still having Braxton Hicks, in fact, on Monday they were pretty steady for about an hour straight. Doctor said it’s totally normal and that they minute they start hurting we’ll know we’re in business.
I must say, knowing that the end of my work load is near (ONE WEEK AND ONE DAY LEFT), I’m so excited.
Maternity clothes: My maternity clothes are now getting snug! Real snug!
Gender: John Henry Thorne… our sweet little Henry!
Nursery: I blogged last week about the details, but here’s how it has all come together. It looks a little blah, but I’m popping in a little bit of red through accessories, art work and pillows. Went with the less expensive mirror and got it in the mail – it’s perfect! Same with the bedding – I love it!
Movement: Wow, he continues to impress us with his violent moments! There are no words. Between a foot hanging out of my side and jabs 24/7 I know this little fella is going to be some sort of athlete.
Sleep: It’s actually better than what it was. It’s not great, but I’m able to go to bed a lot easier when I do wake up. Still up 3-5 times to use the bathroom.
What I miss: I mean it is what it is… it’s definitely not sexy at this point, it’s h#ll trying to pull yourself together to look half way decent and finding something to wear is like war. Getting comfortable is a past time and I’m used to the dog panting… but all in all, it’s temporary and as difficult as it gets towards the end, it’s not that bad. All of these little “symptoms” just give us something to complain about. So, what I miss now will probably be reversed months from now when I miss his sweet kicks or an excuse to lounge in pj’s all the time.
Best moment this week: Knowing that my last day of work is in sight and I can truly look forward to “nesting” and having this baby boy!
Looking forward to: Well, the obvious… meeting him! Also, excited about a day of pampering that I’m doing… getting my hair did (have you seen these roots???), prenatal massage, facial, mani/ pedi.
Cravings: Same old… I love cheese! That’s been a huge craving of mine. Lately though, I’ve been a little less hungry, which is odd because my weight increased big time.
Symptoms: Braxton Hicks… really the only one this week.
Workouts: Walking, but only a few 4-5 mile walks this week. Really getting hard!
