Beauty Favorites

Summertime is finally here and I couldn’t be happier. I live for this time of year- beach trips, pool days, evening bike rides with the family- it all brings me so much joy! Our family truly thrives in the summer- slower days, later nights, and plenty of good old fashioned quality time together! Not going to lie though, by mid July I’m typically ready for fall, cooler temps and bring on the holidays!

Today’s blog post is all about summer beauty essentials (a few staples and a few new products as well) and I am so excited to share some of my favorite products from Nordstrom. Summertime is the perfect time to slow down your routine and invest in some self care (mamas who follow me know that by the end of the summer this is especially important!).

New Perfume

I’ve shared this many times in the past, but I love perfumes probably more than anything. I love the pretty bottles, but more than anything my memory is triggered by smell. Different scents remind me of different seasons of life or special memories, so I treasure my little collection of perfume bottles on my vanity. I can’t wait to pass them along to Olive when she is older. I’ve loved following Aerin Lauder over the years and I have many of her books throughout the house and last year I purchased (for myself ;)) my very first perfume from her line. I leave it on my nightstand and it’s just so pretty on display. If you’ve never visited the Aerin Lauder counter at Nordstrom, please do so! Play around with her gorgeous fragrances!

Sunless Tan

Long gone are the days of laying in the sun with SPF 15 tanning oil… these days I am all about that fake bake! I swear by 3 products to get that summer glow without any skin damage in the sun! For my body, I use the Tan Luxe The Gradual Illuminating Tanning Lotion for a natural glow. This oil-and-lotion hybrid delivers natural, buildable color for that sun-kissed summer look. For my face, I use the Tan Luxe The Face Illuminating Self-Tan Drops- I mix a few drops of this into my daily moisturizer every day and it delivers an even, natural tan. To lock in the color, I use the St. Tropez Purity Bronzing Water Face Mist– this spray can be used to prime or set your makeup and add a little glow. Skincare Technology

If you know me, you know that I love a good gadget. I always get sucked into instagram ads for beauty and skincare gadgets- hello, we have all fallen victim for the facial steamer, am I right? One gadget I have become addicted to is my NuFace facial toning device. This little device is incredible- it uses microcurrents to smooth, lift, and contour the face and neck. Microcurrent mimics this natural current and goes beyond skin deep to tone facial muscles while improving contour and skin tone and reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. When using the NuFace consistently, I have noticed a visible difference in my face contour and fine lines. Nordstrom has a limited-edition kit that comes with the NuFace Trinity facial toning device, Facial Trainer attachment, Lip & Eye attachment, Wrinkle Reducer attachment, and Hydrating Leave-On Gel Primer (2 oz.). This kit is definitely an investment, but will last you forever!

Another little facial gadget I swear by is my Foreo Luna facial cleaning device. This little guy is the best for deep cleaning your skin for a brighter, more even complexion. You can customize your experience using the Foreo For You app- how cool is that? This ultra-hygienic cleansing device expertly lifts away dirt, oil and makeup residue for a fresh, healthy glow. This is especially useful in the summer when your pores are clogged from sunscreen & sweat!

Self Care in Style

Every good self care routine needs loungewear to match! There is nothing better than a soft robe and cute pair of pajamas to start your morning on a high note! If your self care looks like retail therapy, having a cute handbag in tow always helps- how cute is this rattan purse?! If your self care looks like a day by the pool, a cute hat helps protect your face from the sun & complete your poolside look!

Shower Oil (that I use to shave)

Another product that I discovered through TIBAL and haven’t been able to live without for the last two years is the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil that I use for shaving. It is an oil, but it turns into a foam when it is applied to the skin. This is the only product I use to shave with- it is life changing. I have dry, sensitive skin and this has truly transformed my skin. One bottle will last you a few months as a little bit goes a long way!
