It’s been a busy couple of months, and quite honestly, I cannot figure out where the summer went. I was so excited about what I thought would be a quiet summer with the kiddos. Exploring our new neighborhood and crossing off the ‘Summer Buck List,’ however, work, a major change in business, life, the move, minimal childcare and balancing it all got the best of us (and by us, I mean me). During the days when I had a client, I would get a sitter here and there. Then during the evenings, I would be on the computer from when the kids went to bed until the wee hours of the morning. I just couldn’t find the balance and to be honest – I was exhausted.
I found myself counting down the days until both kids start school. Reflecting back, I wish we could do it all over again! Now we’re one week before school starts, and I’m getting sad. As crazy, hectic and challenging the days were – I’m going to miss these sweet babes.
Today was Henry’s Popsicles in the Park where the kindergarteners get to meet their teachers before Open House on Friday. I had coverage for Olive, so Henry and I had the day planned out together to go back to school shopping, haircuts, etc. We had such a sweet day together, and in the car on the way home, Henry told me that he’s sad because he can’t imagine not spending the days with Olive and me once school starts. He started crying and said this was the best summer of his life.
That broke me into a million pieces, and while we didn’t spend our days doing too many exciting activities or camps, it reassured me that everything he needed was right under our roof – family + love (and popsiscles, I cannot tell you how many popsicles we went through). It was also a reminder of how lucky I am to have the opportunity to run a business from my home – something that I often take for granted.
Anyways, without further adieu, (for those of you that really ready these posts 😉 ) a little Life Lately…

I’ve seen lots of beautiful faces the last couple of months! Summer is normally a little more quiet in the world of beauty. Our super busy season is February through the end of June and then September through the end of December. This summer has been a little more busy than years past and I love it! There’s nothing I love more!

I’ll just cut to it… I usually don’t share too many personal things with the kiddos just in respect to them, but I figured there would be several questions when I post pictures of Olive with two new bandages on her face. Almost three weeks ago, Olive ran behind Henry as he was swinging a golf club (he didn’t see her.) Unfortunately, we landed in the ER with stitches in two different places on her face near her left eye. We are thankful that the hit didn’t cause any issues with her vision and didn’t shatter any bones. It broke my heart, but Olive (and kids in general) are resilient, and she is a tough cookie!

It scared me so much I wouldn’t let her go to bed (at night or for naps) without me next to her.

The day after the hospital, I thought it would be a great idea to take the kiddos to Toy Story 4! Not my smartest decision and confirmed that our sweet Oli girl is not ready for the movie theatre just yet… or maybe it was the sugar rush. Nonetheless, she was more into the stairs and the rails than the movie!

Olive is always looking at my fingernails and saying, “ohhh mommy, dos so pwetty”! So a few days after the accident, I treated her to her first nail painting, and she was in heaven. She picked hot pink and sparkles.

She was so cute!!!!

Not Pregnant! Ok, so this popped up on my memories and I can’t get the image out of my head and how much I love being pregnant! I want another baby. So bad. Don’t worry, my hubby won’t let me, so I’ll just cry over Oli slipping out of the baby phase!

Henry earned his green belt! Go buddy!

Told ya we were just getting by this summer! 🙂 I love this picture because it sums up this season so perfectly. Messy + Carefree… and Henry is still wearing his green belt!

Obsessed with this makeup look that I created for a sweet bride. I think this is such a great rosy-gold color combo as we move into fall.

I went on Charlotte Today and demonstrate my ‘5 Minute Face’… I’ve always said no to the news when I’ve been asked to go on. Mainly because, it’s TOTALLY out of my comfort zone and because I’m so awkward! When Colleen reached out back in July I wanted to say no, but I stepped out of my comfort zone last week and went on! NOW I WANT TO GO BACK ON! It was so much fun!

My sweet past bride (turned friend) Rose and Colleen!

Last Friday we had our first and only date night of the summer and it was a GOOD one! We say my fave, John Mayer!

Tagged along with my bestie and first friend I made in Charlotte when I moved here back in 2001!

Such a good night to get away with the hubs! Hurt the next day! 😉

We logged a few playdates with good friends!

This was my favorite! The kiddos got out their backpacks and wanted to pretend going to school together, so we went to Target, lol!

Olive got her stitches out!!

I created a picky eater and I take FULL blame for this! I’ve packed his breakfast, lunch and dinner anytime we got out to eat. Henry’s never ordered a thing off of a menu – nothing! He was really brave one day and told me he wanted to order something… so we went to Chick-Fil-A and he got chicken nuggets, a fruit cup and a lemonade. He hated the chicken, but I’m proud of him for giving it a try!

Loved how flawless her makeup turned out!

We did a Mommy + Tot gymnastics class this summer and it was a lot of fun!

HE DID IT! We have a bike rider. We used to live on a pretty busy street, and when Henry was first adjusting to his new glasses (a year+ ago), he had a hard and had a pretty bad fall. He was scared of the cars on our street, scared of the fall and really never wanted much to do with his bike after that. I tried not to push him, but to just encourage him that someday, I’m sure he’ll want to ride his bike again, but no rush… well, he’s been so eager, but also scared and this weekend he rode his bike for the first time without training wheels. So many tears!

So proud of this little guy!

My best friend has the most beautiful baby boy in July and I took the kiddos to visit him! They were in LOVE!!!!

Another beauty that I had the pleasure of doing makeup and hair for!

Today before Popsicles in the Park (meet the kindergarten teachers)!

Not sure how we’re here… but somehow, we have a kindergartener!

We went to South Park Mall for a little back to school shopping… which was really buying our back to school bath bomb, lunch and new athletic sneakers!
Aw sweet little Oli- so glad she is healing! And what a superstar riding his bike!!
