Well, friends… here it is! My Holiday Home Tour featuring my picked up home (doesn’t happen often) and the crazy Christmas lady (that would be me). Oh and my tree that lost its shape and began to sag in the first 24 hours! We call that winning!
Before we dive in too deep, there’s a disclaimer: my home is never this tidy. Ever. But I forced my family to (as we all know) #shovethatshiz so that there was a beautifully cleaned palette that accurately showed every inch of my Christmas obsession.
My love for the holidays formed very early on. My family made a huge deal of Christmas and the entire month of December. Some of my favorite childhood memories were made at my Grandparents home on Christmas Eve! Growing up in Nebraska, the winters are cold and snowy, so it’s hard not to get into the spirit when you’re surrounded by a winter wonderland. Once I moved away from Nebraska to Charlotte (I was 18), I decided to carry on the Christmas spirit. My best friends and I would have a baking weekend the first weekend of December. I never missed a Nutcracker and attended every holiday party. And every Thanksgiving I set off (single and all) to the Kings Drive farmers market to purchase my very own tree. Typically, died a week later, but you get the picture! I love the holidays.
Once I met John we made a tradition of going to the farmers market off Kings Drive the day after Thanksgiving to buy our tree. There were many arguments over the lights and how each strand has to wrap every.single.branch (I’m telling y’all… psycho!). We lost many trees over the years (thanks to my wonderful green thumb), and there was even one Christmas when our tree died the week before Christmas, and the smell in our tiny condo was atrocious! So, we went back to Kings Drive to fetch and decorated another tree.
Fast forward to five years ago! We moved into our home, and it was like all new territory decorating this place and more space that our little condo off Southend Drive. It was fun! The lighting was different, the colors and home decor was different than our previous place and SO MUCH MORE space to decorate. I covered every inch in Christmas (again, crazy Christmas lady). There wasn’t a corner left uncovered. And then, three years ago, I discovered flocking. From there, it all went downhill, and I officially became the crazy Christmas lady!
From flocked trees falling off my car to falling in my home. My Crazy Christmas Lady Self loves the holiday’s and a month of Christmas decorations makes my heart so happy! In my next life, I want to decorate homes at Christmas as a job!
Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Happy New Year, Friends!
