My New Skincare Routine

In my next life, I’ll come back as a dermatologist – I love skincare and trying out new lines. It’s also part of my job to educate myself on the latest skincare trends and products.  At least, that’s how I justify it. I’m fascinated with lotions and potions.

I turned 35 in December of 2017 and leading up to that milestone; I started to notice a change in my skin. Not necessarily fine lines, but my skin texture began to change and not for the better. Small bumps, inflammation, pimples, enlarged pores and of course the dreaded age spots continuously began to appear on the surface of my skin. Obviously, this could be due to several things; stress, hormones, overuse of makeup, bacteria buildup on brushes, etc. It was around the same time that I noticed my neck and decolletage begin to age. The lines have come out in my neck, and the age spots on my chest are very pronounced.

It’s part of my job to educate myself on products from makeup, skincare, and haircare – I’m a firm believer that you can never stop learning. I also truly believe that beautiful makeup starts with beautiful, healthy skin.

Something you should all know about me… I love to research. So before taking the plunge and investing in products, I investigate the line, study several before and after cases and the ingredients. I don’t just slather anything into my skin. That all being said, I began to research new lines, but instead of just diving into a lost search – I went to beauty icons that I admired and studied the lines that they use. I think it’s safe to say that Jennifer Aniston has aged exceptionally well and wears very little makeup. So in my mind, her skin is my goals. I came across an article where I discovered that she uses the Biologique Recherche line, and so does her makeup artist. It was then that I became obsessive and studied cases and started to dive deep in educating myself on Biologique Recherche.

I have been following Toska, an extraordinarily talented and well-known esthetician out of Charlotte. I knew that she was a brand ambassador and used the Biologique Recherche line and I was always amazed by her clients before and after pictures. I also loved her knowledge that she shared on Instagram about products, health, and benefits of different treatments. I set up an appointment and had my first facial with her on January 3rd… it was on that day, that I started using Biologique Recherche!

My skin has changed, and I’m MORE THAN obsessed! Like, I can’t wait to wash my face each night.  I’m also obsessed with Toska (lol!), I’ll go more into her and her treatments in a later post, but I love her approach to skincare.

Before I dive into the background of Biologique Recherche and my current skincare routine, I want you to know, that while this might seem overwhelming and a lot of steps – this is how I find relaxation in my day. I’m not one who enjoys a bath and a glass of wine. But give me calm music, a glass of tea, (eye roll – I gave up coffee and wine for a bit), and I’ll sit in front of my skincare line and play with face masks and my lotions all night long. It’s my own personal “spa time,” and it’s just what I enjoy… I know this isn’t for everyone, but it’s how I find peace in my day!

My skin was slightly dehydrated, unbalanced, prone to breaking out with some hyper pigmentation (sun damage).  In the past, I’ve had to work hard for my skin.  I’ve been on accutain twice.

I told Toska that my goal is to have skin that I’m proud of, where I don’t have to cake on as much foundation as I have in the past.  I’m excited to say, that after a month and a half, I’m using less and less foundation and I LOVE waking up in the morning to see my overnight results.

Step One | Lait U | Face Wash: Non-oily, fresh cleanser respects the skin’s natural moisturizing processes. It is recommended for young, normal skin, combination skin and /or seborrheic skin.

Step Two | P50 | Toner: *a must have product (in my opinion) and also one of the items that Jennifer Aniston swears by* This gentle, balancing, vitamin-rich exfoliator tones and lightens the skin. It is recommended for less toned and/or devitalized “Skin Instants”. Original “1970” formula.

Step Three | Masque Vivant | Face Mask: *by far, my favorite face mask to date.*  Masque Vivant brightens, tones and refreshes the complexion. This is the balancing mask par excellence. It contains high concentrations of Yeast, Cucumber, and Witch Hazel extracts renowned for their skin purifying properties.  It is recommended for seborrheic, dull and/or less toned skin.

Step Three | Biomagic Mask | Face Mask: Unifies and brightens the complexion. The Biomagic Mask is an energizing mask is formulated with a subtle combination of mineral and terrestrial ingredients. It leaves the skin glowing, soft and purified and is recommended for devitalized and/or less toned skin.

Step Five| Lotion MC 110 No 1 | Lotion: This restructuring lotion exfoliates and tones the epidermis and also smoothes lines and wrinkles.  It is used to supplement P50.

Step Six | Sérum Complexe Iribiol | Serum: Balances and purifies the skin.  Sérum Complexe Iribiol is a balancing serum helps to regulate sebum secretion and tightens the pores.  It is made with Iris and Zinc extracts for customized treatment of skin imperfections. It is recommended for skin imperfections and/or combination and seborrheic skin.

Step Seven | Sérum Matriciel Visage | Serum:  Addressing one of the most complex and inevitable problems, i.e. the progressive sagging of the face, Sérum Matriciel Visage, using more than 10 active ingredients, combines a double action: Intensified volumes and filled facial hollows.  Surface tensor.  It provides immediate and lasting results on the cheeks, jowls, neck and oval of the face.

Step Eight | Crème Dermopurifiante | Cream:  This cream brightens and mattifies the skin, leaving it refreshed and glowing.  It’s a purifying cream reduces redness caused by acne and regulates sebum secretion. It protects the epidermis against external aggressions. It provides effective treatment for seborrheic skin without drying out the epidermis. It is recommended for imbalanced and/or reactive skin.

Step Nine | Fluide VIP O2 | Finishing Serum:  This is an “anti-pollution”, oxygenating, moisturizing serum protects the skin throughout the day from urban aggressions. Its unique formulation uses revitalizing agents, Silk extracts and a Specific Biologique Recherche Oxygenating Complex that really restore healthy skin.

I didn’t purchase all of these products at once.  Toska had me start with four products, and I used those for a month before I invested in the rest.  I started with: Lait U (face wash), P50 (toner), Sérum Complexe Iribiol (serum) and of course the famous Masque Vivant!

Without a doubt, my two favorite items that I’ve ever used on my skin are P50 (toner) and Masque Vivant.

I’ve talked about these two items on Instagram, and so many ladies reached out and said those two products changed their skin as well. Masque Vivant literally cannot stay in stock – so if you’re interested, I would recommend adding it to your wish list on this site.

I honestly LOVE my entire skincare lineup right now (it’s hard just to pick a few items).  I love how much my skin has changed. The bumps have vanished, I have this crazy hydration without being oily. My lines are smoothed out, and my face is feeling plump.

I also LOVE the Sérum Matriciel Visage serum: Intensified volumes and filled facial hollows.  Surface tensor.  It provides immediate and lasting results on the cheeks, jowls, neck and oval of the face.
