*read our journey here + how it happened here*
A little late in posting my 21st week (Ill hurry up and post my 22nd week tomorrow and that way I’ll pretty be much be caught up)… on Thursday I actually turn 24 weeks, which is crazy to believe. Today’s a little bittersweet… Exactly one year ago today, after many prayers, lots of time and a tremendous amount of hope we lost our very first pregnancy. It was a dark time for the hubby and me. I didn’t know how I would pick up and move on, but somehow I did… we did! All along I knew that our little son would be waiting for us in our bright future. Although I didn’t know what a year from then would hold, I knew in my heart something special would happen… something made me believe. Here’s to our first little Thorne and to it’s brother who gave us hope.
Dear John Henry,
Wow! Sounds good to finally say your name, little Henry! Your Daddy and I found out who you are this week and you’ve brought more joy to us than I can ever explain. I can’t believe I’m having a son, YOU, Mommy’s little boy. From the beginning I always thought I would have a son… deep down I knew it was you all along and I cannot wait, little babe! Only 18 more weeks until we will meet.
Brings so much love and joy to my heart knowing that your Daddy is about to have a best friend… I can picture your Daddy now… a soccer coach, your new running partner, he’ll show you the game of golf (and you better love it!). He’s going to turn you into the gentleman just like himself. And as far as I go… I know you’re going to spoil me with all of your love. I can’t wait for your soccer games when you come running to me after a goal. I can picture our little life together more than ever and I can’t imagine it any other way.
You are so loved, John Henry. Thank you for being so strong for us, for fighting with us and for showing us the journey to parenthood. We love you more than words.
I love you,
Mommy
Size of babe: A pomegranate and we finally know who this little pomegranate it! 🙂
Weight gain: Well, this is a TBD… we’re at the beach on a family vacation and eating right is pretty much outta sight. I fill you in during my week 22 survey.
Maternity clothes: I feel like I should take this question off… absolutely! Except workout clothes. Ugh… it’s HARD finding workout clothes and I don’t mean preggo yoga clothes for expecting mama’s. I mean running shorts, running shirts that have built in sport bras, etc.
Gender: Sweet baby Henry! We’re having a B O Y !!!!
My gut instinct was right all along. We’re over the moon and absolutely in love with this little guy. Let me tell you… I had a feeling from the start, even though I sometimes thought it could be an Elle. Mostly because of all the wives tales suggested a girl. During my week 21 checkup the heartbeat was 166 bpm. Everyone (I started to as well) thought for sure there was a little Elle in there. Both John and I are seriously so excited. First grand baby and grandson on my side and first grandson on Johnny’s side of the family. I had a strong feeling that it was a boy since our 11 week, 12 week, 16 week and 18 week ultrasound. All 4 showed the little man with his legs crossed at the ankles. Funny thing is, that’s how his Daddy sleeps. To be honest, I can totally see us with a family of three… and mommy spoiled by her boys. If it’s not in God’s plans to give us another child, I’m perfectly fine with where we are. A son to carry on the Thorne name, a son who will always love me, a son who will become my hubby’s best little friend. I keep hinting that to the hubs… I’m going to have to pick up the game of golf, enjoy watching sports, gain an appreciation for frogs and dirt then this mama deserves a little something-something once in awhile. Keep reading to best ‘moment of the week’ for details on the reveal party, it was awesome.
Nursery: The wheels are spinning!
Movement: Straight up kicks and not only are they kicks, they are jabs! I can see my belly move and so the hubs… pretty neat… and what’s ever more neat is being able to say “babe, Henry’s moving!!!”. Love referring to the little critter by his name.
Sleep: Up lots to use the bathroom… so it’s interrupted twice during the night.
What I miss: Ok, if I’m going to be honest… I miss my old arms, not that they were jacked, but I wasn’t as self conscious.
Best moment this week: OUR GENDER REVEAL PARTY!!! It was truly one of the best days (despite the rain, which made for backup plans)… it was great! We’re so thankful to all of our friends and family who came together to celebrate the big ?question? with us… little Henry! 🙂 Incredibly thankful for our friends, The Lunsford’s who let us host a party at their house. Thanks to Kristin Vining for taking profesh pic’s (can’t wait to share them with you), thanks to Megan (my talented blogger friend) for the delicious baked goods and thanks to Liz for the adorable paper goods.
Once we get pic’s back from KVP, then I’ll go into more detail. 🙂
Best moment… finding out that were going to have a son!
Until we get our pic’s back from KV, here’s some iPhone pics! I’ve gotten so bad about documenting… I have no pic’s of John and I with friends, which makes me sad or just our company enjoying themselves. Note to self: remember to take pic’s throughout the night.
Looking forward to: Shopping for my son!
Cravings: At the beach I made lots of veggie sandwiches… whole wheat bread, Dukes mayo, lettuce, carrots, honey dijon, cheese and tomato. It was the jam. The not so good new craving that I was introduced to is BIRTHDAY CAKE Oreo’s! Simply amazing. I’m a sucker for frosting and cake batter… never appreciated an Oreo until now.
Symptoms: Cellulite (ha! gotta laugh at that one), heartburn and frequent midnight trips to the restroom. I hear it only gets worse… Yikes! Then again I do have a little nugget who weighs over a pound nestled on my bladder.
Workouts: My workouts this week consisted of walking to and from the beach and sweating in the Florida sun! 🙂
