Dear Baby,
Congratulations little one, we made it to week 13 today… together and strong! Yay! Speaking of week 13, I’m also feeling a little more like myself these days, so thank you. You even let Mommy stay up until 2am. That’s right, it’s been weeks upon weeks since I’ve seen that hour, well other than when you wake me up to tinkle.
This week marked our first few days away from your Daddy. He went on a golfing trip with some of his best friends. He’s been looking forward to this weekend forever now… and as excited as he was to leave, I know a part of him missed us so much. Maybe not so much me, but you. That’s for sure and you’re not even born yet. I’m not sure if I should tell you this, but Daddy also came to the conclusion that you’re a girl… in fact he refers to “us” as “his girls”. I told him that one day (if you’re a boy) you’ll be bigger than him, he needs to watch out.
Love you so much little babe,
Mommy
Size of babe: A lemon! 3.4″ long and 1.5 ounces! Baby Thorne is growing up!
Weight gain: This week it said I was up by 5lbs from where I started. I ended the first trimester up 5lbs. Hey, I’ll take it… the way I was eating and the foods I’ve been craving, I’m really surprised it’s not more.
Maternity clothes: Absolutely! They feel so good and I’m sure those that have been preggo can relate. Nothing takes away that “chubby stage” more than maternity clothes. I was never a big fan of baby bump clothes, always sorta thought they were ugs, but that’s only becuase I didn’t know where to shop. My mind always goes back to when my mother (sorry mom!) was preggo with my brother and I just remember her clothing being godawful with him. Now that I know where to shop, I love maternity clothes. I also love the way they make you feel… it’s almost like they “work with” the bump, instead against. That muffin top, yea, I don’t have that anymore thanks to that sexy waistband that hits right below my bra. This weekend I went shopping with Mel and I did splurge a little… all on budget of course.
**Side note and not maternity clothes related… I lived in this outfit for weeks** I got the shorts from Gap outlet not too long ago, scarf is old from Madewell and shirt is recent from Anthro.
Gender: July 27th is our gender reveal date! Johnny swears it’s a girl (have I mentioned this before)?! He was on his golf trip this weekend and kept referring to the babe and me as “my girls”. Pretty sweet, but also NOT so sweet if that little nugget is a Mommy’s boy in there!
Nursery: I second guess everything and I’m second guessing the chandy purchase I made last week. I really don’t want the room to go to vintage, but then again, look at my crib. So, I’m now going to have to work with wall covering and bedding to crisp up the white and add some sort of mod fabric and colors.
Movement: Nothing yet, but Adrianne (acupuncturist) asked if I’ve felt anything and she also prepped me that I will start or should start feeling stuff soon. I guess girls with short torsos like me (and her!) feel movement a lot earlier. Nicola, out of the blue texted me and asked the same thing, literally right after Adrianne. She’s another shorty and confirmed everything Adrianne said… she felt them early on as well. I seriously cannot wait!
Sleep: Good, really good, but it would be even better if I invested in this body pillow thing. I spent the night at Mel’s on Saturday (total girls night while the hubs were out of town golfing) and she gave me hers to borrow for the night. It was amazing. Here’s the thing, I’m a weirdo (nothing new) and with the added chub comes added thigh make out sessions. Sleeping on your side with your thighs creeping on each other like that is just too much for me to handle. So, this body pillow thing is in order and it’ll keep me from readjusting my leg situation or hiking one up on the hubs (sorry babe).
What I miss: Seriously I thought the cocktail would be catching up to me by now! It’s not! I’m seriously missing a good ole wedge. I tried to have one the other night, no blue cheese and ranch instead. Didn’t compare. Babes totally worth it though.
Best moment this week: So many happy things going on these days… I think the best moments are talking about the pregnancy. Sounds lame. I spent Saturday night (like I mentioned) at Mel’s house and her mom and Mimi were in town. Nicola came over for a bit too. We chatted a lot about the babe… not that myself and the babe are trying to be the center of attention or anything, it’s just fun to talk about it. It’s fun to answer questions. It’s fun to hear what they think the babe really is. The other best moment (sorry Johnny you didn’t make the cut!) was shopping with Mel on that following Sunday. We literally ran into one store and I had a ball.
The best moment though… the best (here comes the cheese, you ready for it???) is when the hubby left for his golf trip and a few hours after he left he sent a text asking “how are my girls”… it’s just fun hearing him refer to “us” now instead of just “me”.
Looking forward to: Week of June 15th (Father’s Day) I have the entire weekend off to spend with the hubby. His 36th is right around the corner so with a weekend off it’s the perfect excuse to celebrate… a birthday AND Father’s Day! 🙂
Cravings: Still craving Starbucks reduced fat turkey bacon & white cheddar sandwich. Fresh cherries and the Bento Box from Cowfish! 🙂
Symptoms: Nothing really which scares me… I need to suck it up and realize this little babe is just easy on me. I don’t get up as much in the middle of the night either to tinkle. I pray that everything is going ok in there with my little lemon. I reassure myself everyday by listening to it’s heartbeat!
Workouts: Still easy-peasy to me. Trying to make sure I get my runs in during the early morning hours because of the heat and if it is later in the day, then I make sure I’m only walking. I did 3 Group Power classes last week and had to reduce my weight on my legs tremendously, not going to lie, it’s getting harder. Seriously, this gal is about 7 months preggo, I refer to her as She-Ra… she lifting weights that I didn’t even lift BEFORE I was preggo! What a maniac!
