Dear Baby,
The tears of joy have faded and the excitement of you has overcome us. 🙂 We are over the moon! At 8 weeks and 4 days daddy and I got to see your sweet little self and hear your heartbeat. In the past week and a half you’ve grown so much… you we’re dancing! Moving those little arms and legs of yours and your heart rate… whew, 178bpm. We also made huge strides and graduated from REACH. We had to say goodbye to the special doctor that helped us make you. While we were very excited to hear about how strong your growing, it was a little bittersweet to leave such wonderful doctors and nurses.
I don’t even have a bump yet, but often times I catch myself rubbing my belly. I can’t wait for the belly… I can’t wait to feel your kicks, the jabs in the ribs, the growing pains… I’m so excited to experience more of you. Speaking of bump… I’ve made the mistake of going into maternity stores and trying on the fake bump… which then results in a few maternity purchases. This is just so exciting! We love you so much, our little green olive and we’re counting down the days until our next doctors appointment.
Lots of love,
Mommy
Size of babe: Another one of my fav’ — a green olive! 🙂
Weight gain: 124lbs, no weight gain, but my jeans are ridiculously tight and after a meal the button is history.
Maternity clothes: This could be a problem. I’ve been waiting and dreaming about this bump for some time now and now that it’s going to become a reality… I can’t stop shopping! I purchased the 1 pair of jeans from Gap for $25 a few weeks ago. I also made an online purchsase of 2 dresses from ASOS. Then a few days ago I went back into Gap and purchased 2 more dresses, a pair of mint skinny jeans and a cute white top.
Gender: Can’t wait for this… looks like we could possibly find out after June 27th.
Nursery: We purchased the crib! 🙂 I cannot believe we pulled the trigger this early on, but I’ve been planning this nursery for some time and the crib that I LOVE went on sale… a few days later it went back to full price. It’s actually being delivered tomorrow. 🙂
Movement: During the ultrasound this week, we saw lots of movement from our dancing queen, but obviously I can’t feel anything.
Sleep: Whew, sleeping like a champ… going to the bathroom like a champ… up 6 times on Saturday evening. I learned the trick, no fluids after 8:30pm.
What I miss: Ask me in a few weeks, as of right now, I’m soaking this up.
Best moment this week: Seeing our sweet little babe on the screen for the second time on Monday, April 29th. This time, you could really make out the little babe. You could definitely see the little rump, the head, the curve in the spine, the limbs and get this he/she was move’n and groove’n. Heart beat = 178bpm.
Some other exciting, yet bittersweet happenings… we GRADUATED from REACH. That’s right, the term “graduated” was used by our doctor. As happy as I am to know that we are in a good place, everything is moving along perfect (knock on wood), it’s still sad to say goodbye to a place we became so familiar with. Wonderful doctors, nurses, lab nurses… that got us our baby. It’s definitely a bittersweet moment.
We also went to Atlanta and told Johnny’s family… their love and excitement for the new baby Thorne was so touching.
Looking forward to: Excited to embark on the second trimester and have a healthy baby. The fear of early miscarriage still scares me, so just having that reassurance that we are now in the second trimester and our risk for miscarriage is greatly reduced will be a wonderful relief.
Also, being able to let the good word out! My Dad is so cute and emailed me yesterday wondering if he could tell “his work folks”! So cute!
Cravings: Nothing particular… my hunger comes and goes in waves. Some moments it’s sooooo strong I feel like I could eat a house and then other times, hours will go by and I’m still not hungry. Trying to move past the crackers, breads and trying to introduce more protein based foods that will fill be up. Yesterday I made an omelet with Jimmy Dean ground turkey sausage, green olives, black olives, a little bit of cheese and I was satisfied for hours. I’ve read about how GOOD eggs are for you so I’m glad they tasted good.
Symptoms: Feeling puffy, pants a little snugger, waves of nausea – typically after I eat, never happens in the morning, frequent potty trips in the middle of the night. To be honest, I’ll take feeling like poo, just reconfirms that I’m pregnant. 🙂 If this means, I have a healthy baby growing the way it should be inside of me, then bring it on poo feeling symptoms.
Workouts: Still going strong. I did 4 group power classes and several 6-4 mile runs. Some days I walk most of my “runs” and other days a run is easy (like yesterday). So, I do what I can and what feels good.
