On Thursday my mom flew in from Omaha and my sister drove up from Jacksonville, FL and together as mother, daughter + “our” men we celebrated Christmas! We celebrated the way any mother, daughter and best friends should celebrate Christmas… shopping, eating, lol’ing, drinking, shopping, eating, eating did I mention eating… EATING {but so, so yummy}!
Quick insert on the EATING: seriously between training for the half marathon {which you would think you would shed some lbs, yea, not so much}, all the holiday parties we’ve attended and having no self control when it comes to the mound of goodies in the breakroom… let’s just say I’m seriously, anxiously awaiting the New Year, ANYONE WITH ME? Can I get an amen! So, I’m going to continue my over indulging in every aspect and take advantage of the Southern Belle’s white chocolate covered cereal blend, Nicola’s savory meatballs {those things we’re delish}, Louie + Carm’s fabulous appetizer that I dipped into one too many times at the Mitchell’s, my Daddy’s soul food cook’n on Christmas Eve {when my parents lived down south for a short period we all found a love + appreciation for southern down home cook’n + all the flava’s} and my Yiayia’s traditional Greek lemon infused turkey on Christmas day. AND to top it off, I’m gonna have one too many peppermint latte’s and I’m not stopping at the skim milk… no sir’ee, gimmie 2%, extra whippy {“whipping” – Stewie? Anyone with me? Family Guy episode} cream + all those chocolate sprinkles – can I super size that? How am I hungry again?!? Stop, collaborate and listen… quiet judging this distinct muffin top, come the New Year I’m turning this train around! But until then…
Ok back to the family filled weekend… 😉 My bad, I get off track!
While my mom + sis were in town I took them off the beaten track to one of my favorite “my style” locations! We were supposed to head out shopping but I convinced my wonderful hub to pause the Carolina game for 2.5 sec’s and head over to my favorite little home/ law firm right in the heart of Dilworth! My sis + mom weren’t expecting it, but give them some love they did pretty darn good!
Best Friends! Honestly, I never thought I would think of my sister as “BFF’s” growing up, I was {I will admit} a little mean to her! She was younger than me, and I was just too cool for school {or so I thought}! Now we’ve all {including my mom} have grown extremely close! I consider my sister my best friend and I love her dearly… and my crazy mom too!
This was clearly a “that’s what he said moment”…
How cute is my mom with her hands on her chin!
I think my mom is one stylish 52 year old! You go girl!
Taaaaa’daaaaaaaaaaaaaa – that’s the Regan gals for ya!
Now on to dinner…………………
My hubby + I cooked dinner for the family on Saturday evening… that’s right I COOKED! Can you believe it? Me either! I wasn’t exactly sure what to do… clearly! I did however make some top shelf bacon that we used Paula’s mac-n-cheese!
Have ya’ll ever touched bacon? No like really touched it? Nasty but tastes so good!
Take my picture… it looks like I’m doing something! Someday I will perfect my kitchen skillz!
Hate that I looked over table setting prior to the hour before dinner otherwise I would have picked up a table cloth + busted out the pretty flatware. Instead I used what was readily available and made it simple. Used our white every day dinnerware from Crate & Barrel, white cloth napkins {not ironed either, drives me crazy}, and snipped off branches from our Christmas tree to give some sort of holiday look to the table. I KNOW… the knife above looks dirty! It’s not, we use and was them frequently… actually that smudge looks like a sticker.
Wish I had a picture of the entire table… but here’s a little glimpse!
