Something that I wore to work at the 9-5’er job {ok, let’s be real, what job is really 9-5?}. Over the past few weeks I’ve received emails on what all I do {I know, it’s kinda a lot} so, if your just chiming into my blog here’s a little background. I went to school + graduated in the interior design field, I work for a topnotch worldwide firm and I must say, I’m pretty lucky! Interior design + fashion go hand in hand… textures, fabrics, layers, detailing… in fact I can look at a garment and find some sort of architecture element within it. Enough about interior design; my PASSION {like no other} is in fashion, makeup, hair + weddings! I started a little business doing wardrobe styling, makeup + hair for weddings, styling photo shoots, etc… I’m a creative individual and I thrive off of mismatching and everything/anything awkwardly funny… makes total sense… right?
Keep reading… I know it’s confusing…
I often times tap into my personal style – and for example, that’s what you’re seeing/reading today, a personal “my style” post. I’m 5’-2”, currently weighing in at 120lbs, size 7 shoe, size 4/2 {2 in the summer, 4 in the winter + right now as we speak my 4’s are providing one good look’n muffin top} and cantaloupes on my chest {can’t wait for these babies to someday go, they get in the way of everything cute}. Obviously, I’m NO super model; I’m a regular, normal 28 year old who dips into the creative aspect of fashion which is relevant to Charlotte {on days I wish I could sport a bow tie + chucks but I’m afraid the Southern hospitality folk might chuckle… so I keep my fashions somewhat modest}. Modest… and let’s not forget reasonable. I’m a firm believer that “everything will go on sale” and while I do love fancy designers, sometimes it’s not realistic to my wallet. Plus, I love having a variety of garments!
Little fashion pointer; I mix silver, gold’s, mattes, metallic’s, navy’s, blacks, browns + grays… some might call me a fashion mistake but I refer to mixing + matching as a fashion genius! Rules don’t need to apply!
You still reading? For all my wedding savvy brides I enjoy more than anything wardrobe styling for engagement pictures, wedding day makeup + hair, bridal portraits, etc… it’s your big day, you’re on stage so indulge!
Still on the wedding kick… I also do wedding design for Weddings and the City. It’s a little treat for brides who might live outside of the Carolina’s and/or brides who want that creative individual to bounce ideas off of but don’t have a budget hire a planner for the duration of their wedding planning. We {the WATC gals + myself} work together to create a unique design + booklet within a perspective budget and look + feel the bride is after… we deliver our thoughts in a presentation in which the bride can print off and take along with her to all of her vendor meetings.
Promise almost done! I also do in house + personal wardrobe styling! It’s what I call a closet makeover… read about it here!
That’s pretty much it, that’s what I do! I work all the time and I love it… from the 4:00am makeup + hair start times, freezing and being Kristin Vining’s “walking party” {you must shoot with us, to know what this means… or if you’re a past client I’m sure your “lol’ing” in your seat right now}, getting to know + work with new gals + photog’s, doing maekup + hair and sharing the special moments with the bride + her maids before declaring her “I do’s”… I’m in total awe and love with my life and what I do!
In addition to working… I enjoy endless + countless hours of giggles with my hubby and constantly surrounding myself with the best collection of girlfriends one could ask for!
{What I’m Wearing} Pants: Gap {soooo old}, Shirt: Limited Outlet, Shoes: Banana, Socks: Target {kids section}, Bag: Michael Kors, Hat: Ann Taylor, Necklace: Forever21, Bracelets: Charlotte Russe, Glasses: Marc Jacobs {best $98 glasses I’ve ever had}, Belt: Target {years upon years ago}, Sweater: Anthro
Pointer… I don’t invest a ton of dollar billz into my clothes as you can see and what I do purchase I purchase on sale! I’m wearing pants from when I was 21 and purchased before my very first design job… I just take very good care of my clothes and sometimes my dry cleaning bill bites me in the behind BUT it’s worth it. Most of my clothes I will wear a few times before dry cleaning and very few of my garments will I actually wash. That’s how I keep them looking so fresh! I think the little dry cleaning investment goes a long way!
