Back to school is (finally!!!!) here and I couldn’t be more excited! As a family, we have been getting all our ducks in a row to prepare to get back in the swing of the school routine- organizing school supplies, shopping for new school clothes, and getting Henry fitted for fresh new glasses with Target Optical!
If you have been following me for a while, you might be familiar with our journey with Henry’s vision. For those of you who don’t know, Henry has faced significant challenges with his vision over the years. As parents, it was heartbreaking to watch our child clearly struggling but unable to verbalize how we could help him. After consulting with a vision therapist and getting Henry fitted for special glasses, we finally got the breakthrough we prayed for to help our sweet Henry.
Now that we have identified solutions for Henry’s vision, we are able to take him for yearly eye exams to keep up with any vision changes that might occur as he grows up. Henry wears 2 different types of glasses depending on what he is doing (one pair for close-up reading, one for distance) and is able to independently switch between the two when he is at school. It has been incredible to watch his independence grow with this responsibility. He LOVES being able to pick out new glasses and express himself with new frame styles.
We recently had our first experience with Target Optical and it could not have been easier. We met with an eye care expert at our local Charlotte, NC Target and Henry was fitted for new frames for the new school year. Target carries several name brands in addition to Target branded frames- there is truly something for everyone! The biggest selling point for me as a working parent was that we were able to make an appointment on a Saturday- if you are a working parent, you know how weekend appointments are few and far between! This was perfect for us to check off the back-to-school to-do list on a Saturday morning.
With a complete pair of glasses (Frames + Lenses) starting at only $79, plus special offers, there’s something for the entire family. Target Optical accepts FSA and HSA accounts and most major vision plans on all your eye care needs, both in-store and online!

Henry also got fitted for a pair of sports specs glasses to wear while he is playing baseball, golf, or playing outside! I could not get over all the cool options he had to customize these glasses. We chose to get this pair with transition lenses- so when Henry goes outside, the lenses adjust to block the sun. These lenses would be great for anyone with light sensitivity- you can even pick what color the lenses transition to. Henry chose a grey lens which will be great for long days on the baseball field.
