These pictures bring the happiest tears to my eyes and I cannot thank my talented friend and photographer, Allison of Allison Kuhn Photography for documenting such a special time in our lives. A keepsake that will be cherished for all the years to come.
The thought of having a second child has set in and it’s bittersweet. Please don’t confuse my words – we are over the moon and so in love with this unborn child of ours. We prayed so hard for this baby and we want (wanted) this sweet little angel that’s growing in my belly more than anything… but it’s still very much so bittersweet. I just don’t want the love, connection and bond that I share with Henry to ever change.
Henry’s our first born and so we’ve experienced all of those motherhood and fatherhood firsts with him. There are no words to describe the bond that you have with your first child (everyone assures me the second is just as special and seeing the two together will make your heart grow even bigger). He’s my everything. We are equally attached to one another and when he’s at school or I’m at work my heart aches for this little boy of mine. His precious face and that bight smile of his lights up my heart! The highlight of my day is when I spend an hour laying next to him in bed… that time cuts into my computer, Netflix and ice-cream eating time, but I hope he wants me next to him for many years in our future.
What makes me so excited is experiencing the love that Henry gives to the baby already. We decided to tell Henry early on that there was a baby in mommy’s belly. He talks about the baby non-stop. When he wakes up in the wee-hours of the middle of the night to go potty, he walks through the baby’s room. He’s moved mountains in his heart for this baby… if there’s one thing that’s important to him it’s expressing who his best friends are. His baby is now on that list; mommy, baby and daddy (in that order – sorry daddy).
This weekend our friends were over with their 6 month old baby girl. Henry was so in tune with her. Giving her toys to play with and he didn’t scream when I held her (big boy move as he’s so attached to mommy right now). He loved showing her all of his Paw Patrol toys. He crawled around the house trying to get her to crawl. He then told baby Sadie that she was beautiful! My heart grew some more.
I know transitioning to two is going to have it’s challenges, but I feel like being a mother was my calling in life and I’m so genuinely excited.
More to come this week with some exciting news! 😉
