I feel like I need to start by saying, this is not at all sponsored. I just want to spread the love to a few female-owned businesses in Charlotte.
In all honesty, with Henry’s birthday on the 7th, Oli’s birthday on the 23rd, countless holiday parties that I don’t attend, I get women ready for them, and also, preparing for Christmas, I didn’t have a lot of time to think about a birthday party. I am an enneagram type 2, a people pleaser, a do-er, and terrible with outsourcing. One of my most significant flaws is asking for help and recognizing when I need help! I’m still cleaning my own home, for instance! That all being said, I kept putting Olive’s party planning off because I was in the thick of the holiday season, and in my line of business (beauty!) from November through December, we are slammed.
I couldn’t pull myself together to start planning my daughter’s birthday, but with her birthday being two days before Christmas, I never want/ wanted her to feel forgotten. I was teaching a makeup class in mid-December, that my friend, Tiffany of Confetti Castle was at, and I asked if she would make some balloons for Olive’s birthday party that I haven’t started planning. I know she sensed my stress and called me the next day and said, “LET ME HELP in more ways than just balloons!”. That was on a Monday, and her birthday party was supposed to be on that Sunday – just a few days later. Tiffany took over and planned the whole party – we didn’t do invites or even an evite… a simple text did the trick. She did it all, and I’m so grateful! Tiffany told me who was available to make a cake two days before her party, coordinated Frozen sisters for entertainment, she did everything – she brought games, kinetic snow for the kids to play with, homemade wands, she made signs… I could go on and on.
During our phone call on that Monday, I asked Tiffany what I could do… she knew I was at the end of my rope and just said, have your house cleaned by Sunday morning (the day of the party). She literally did the rest. Talk about a friend just showing up for you!
I coordinated with Babe and Butcher and she created a kid-friendly charcuterie board for the kiddos and gorgeous savory board for the adults. Lindsey is another dear friend who is BEYOND talented and creates that most tasty spreads!
Sweet Indulgence by Maite made a Frozen-themed cake that was as delicious as it was beautiful and priced SO WELL!
To top it off, Anna and Elsa made an appearance with help from Enchanted Fairytale Parties. Watching Oli and her friends interact with the Frozen sisters was the sweetest thing!
I feel bad saying that I outsourced my daughter’s entire birthday party, but I did… and I’m so glad that I did because the stress level that I was at in December, I wouldn’t have been able to pull off anything for Olive. In my business, you work when you’re needed and that time of year it’s seven days a week. I was just stretched really thin and I’m so thankful for my group of friends who helped me pull together a special party for my daughter. I’m also SO thankful for Oli’s friends who were able to make it on such a short notice.
This magical party truly was a labor of love from an amazing group of Charlotte boss babes. Thank you all for sharing your talents with us and celebrating our girl!
Thank you to everyone who wished our frazzle-dazzle girl a happy birthday!
Love you so much, Olive Amelia Thorne!
