My first blog post of 2020, and I’m excited it’s a beauty one! I have a few products that I’ve recently fallen in love – you’ve seen me share them in Instagram stories, but I’m excited to write a full review and share my thoughts with all of you.
Disclaimer: This post is in collaboration with Sephora, as always, I only take sponsored posts that allow me to select the products and topics of my choice to share with all of you!
Hourglass Airbrush Vanish Concealer
As you all know, I’m always on the hunt for the perfect concealer (foundation too!), and as I get older, I become more and more particular about the products that I use, especially under my eye. I find with most full-coverage concealers; they’ll sit on my undereye and expose those pesky little fine lines. I find that my problem with a lot o full coverage concealers is that they’re a bit drying under the eye… which in return enhances the fine lines.
When Hourglass released their new concealer line it was one I knew I wanted to try… the name of the concealer caught my attention before anything else – Airbrush Vanish Concealer. The words ‘vanish’ and ‘airbrush’ are two that I want sitting under my eyes!
I fell in love with this because it’s full coverage, weightless, waterproof concealer with microspherical powders that blue (and brighten) for up to 16+ hours! I find that with most concealers, you have that urge to set your undereye with powder because of the tacky/ wet finish, and with this one, it looks beautiful with or without powder. If you wear it without setting powder, I haven’t experienced my mascara transferring to the under-eye area.
My first thoughts: It’s flawless, full-coverage, and doesn’t require touchups throughout the day! It looks thin on the skin and feels soft on the undereye… honestly, the perfect full coverage, lightweight formula. It’s not luminous but has a soft blurring feature all while being crease-resistant and light reflecting. I also couldn’t believe how it bleeds seamlessly into the under eye skin.
I’m 37 years old, and while I take care of my skin with good products and the occasional botox, I don’t get fillers, lasers or anything like that. That all being said, I have lines (and children that don’t sleep), so finding the perfect concealer that brightens, conceals, and doesn’t make me look older than I already am is a MUST! This concealer meets all of my expectations and is now sitting now only in my personal beauty drawer, but in my professional kit as well.
Nobody is asking ;), but I’ll share my top four concealers and not in any particular order, but all based on performance, wearability, coverage and brightening:
Hourglass Airbrush Vanish Concealer – I’m color “Cedar”
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer – I’m color #3
Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer – I’m color “Almond”
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – I’m color Light
Charlotte Tilbury Darling Shadow Palette
I was hesitant in purchasing this Charlotte Tilbury Darling Eyeshadow Palette (a cult favorite) because it’s $57; however, I caved. I was actually in Sephora, swatching several different shadow palettes, including this one a few months ago, and I fell in love and had to have it. This palette was created just for Charlotte (herself) and inspired by the colors of sunsets. It includes six shades curated for a glowy eye look from bronzed copper, peachy pink, rosy terracotta, and chocolate brown eyeshadows. Personally, I prefer a shadow palette that has a beautiful array of matte and shimmery shades to allow for variety and deminson.
Here’s why her palettes, (in my humble opinion) are a bit on the pricy side. They truly blend into the skin like butter. I’ve never worked with a shadow that goes onto the skin as smooth as the Charlotte Tilbury shadow pigments. They are so incredibly easy to swish onto the skin and blend into the eye. Her mattes stay vibrant for hours and never turn into that chalky look that some shadows tend to look like after hours on the skin. In addition, I don’t think another shadow can compare to her shimmers. They don’t ‘dust’ all over the face, and they do an excellent job of adhering to the skin and staying in place, and they’re incredibly buildable, just like the matte shades. More than that – there’s NOTHING that can dupe this shadow palette, and I’ve tried.
I used the palette on my client’s eyes, and I’m so in love!
Fenty Snap Shadows Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette
I have to say, Fenty is one brand that I will be playing around a lot more within 2020. I haven’t used many of their products other than this highlighter and this primer (both of which I love!). Her price points are great for the quality and the amount of product that you receive within her packaging. Over the holidays, I was in Sephora when I discovered her latest shadow palette collection, Snap Shadows Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette. They’re portable mini (I wish that they didn’t categorize this as “mini” because the actual shadows are as large as the Anasteasia squares within their standard size palettes – so pretty decent size) eyeshadow palette of six shades in a range of matte to shimmer finishes. You can use each palette solo (as shown in my pictures) or snap any two palettes together for your own custom combo.
I purchased the “True Neutrals” palette, and I will say these are super blendable, pigmented and so easy to use with minimal fallout – so great for makeup beginners. All of the colors work well together, so it takes the guessing game away from “what colors do I pair together”. The size of the compact itself is so great for travel.
One shadow palette is $25, but if you purchase two together they’re $45 ($5 savings!)
Laura Mercier Lip Glacé
I shared this, Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in color “Orchid” (I believe discontinued now) was a longtime favorite. I wanted to find a good gloss for the spring, not only for myself but for my clients who are doing spring photoshoots and ended up taking color, “Tulip” home with me, and I love it! What I love about the Laura Mercier Lip Glacé is that it’s not sticky, goopy, cakey, or anything like that. This lip gloss delivers a beautiful color that doesn’t overpower my complexion. They’re high-shine, and they look great by themselves or over lip color as well. They’re not categorized as a ‘long-lasting formula,’ but for me, they stay put and tint my lips for hours.
