Snow day in Charlotte!
For those who don’t live in the Carolina’s – our snow days are few and far between (unfortunately!). So we make the best of the little dusting that we get. Schools close, grocery stores and businesses close. I had a well-check appointment for both kids today, and they called at 8 am to let me know their office wouldn’t be seeing patients for the day. It’s crazy! The hubby left for work at 7:00 am, and I hunkered down with the kiddos.
By 8:30 am, I had Olive down for her first nap of the day (we’re still on two naps, and she’s ready to go down shortly after she wakes up) and Henry and I were outside enjoying the snowfall. I was freezing and don’t own a pair of gloves, and my buddy (who is four) sported his 2T snowsuit. Time to upgrade! Oh and I should note that it’s 8:01 pm and I’m still in the same pajamas – haven’t changed. Talk about living up a cozy snow day!
Although I’m from Omaha, Nebraska where the winters are BLISTERING cold (I’m talking temperatures that will take your breath away… oh, and the windchill), I haven’t lived in snowy weather since 2001… that’s 17 years! So, we’re just not prepared… so as Henry made way through the 5 inches that we accumulated, I made sure to give him a BAKING SHEET to use as a sled. Funny enough, he didn’t know the difference, lol!
The picture above is of Henry attempting to “sled” on the baking sheet!
That snowsuit though! 🙂
When I put Henry down this evening, he asked if we could do it all over again tomorrow. He then thanked me for playing with him and letting him skip nap/ quiet time.
While daddy was away, we ate wayyyy too many snacks, watched movies, cuddled, turned the fire on, ate chocolate chips (without the cookies), went-in-and-out and-in-and-out so many times that we lost count, played board games and stayed in our jammies all.day.long!
Snow baseball… he also played soccer today! lol!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know my love for anything flocked! This was magic! lol!
I wore Olive pretty much every time we went outside!
I know eventually they’ll hate each other, but I’m soaking up this love that he has for his sister. Truly, the sweetest!
Olive was not a fan of the snow! She looked cute though!
Olive prefers the heated indoors!
He won’t put her down!
Love this view out of the breakfast room! The white glow coming through the windows… beautiful!
She lights up when she can sit next to him on the coffee table! The ONLY time she sits still! Best buddies and she even watches whatever is on the television.
Monkey see, monkey do… it was only a matter of time! 😉
Here’s a cute little video from our day!
I love this so much! Olive’s little cry face is the cutest 🙂
What a perfect snow day! That picture of Olive crying… bless her!! Haha!!
