After doing a 5 minute makeup tutorial on Instagram Stories a few months ago, I received requests about doing an actual tutorial that would sit live on my blog! So, here I am… stumbling over my words, using the wrong words (and grammar!) and talking waaaaay to long to express what I’m trying to say, BUT we’ve got to start somewhere, right? This process actually ended up easier that I ever expected – so if this is something that you like, will you let me know in the comment section? I’m excited to share a fun post and SO FITTING since we just kicked off the official first day of summer last week! Here’s my take on a full summer time face! Using all of my favorite products from Nordstrom, y’all know by now how much I LOVE Nordstrom’s beauty department and free shipping (love the free returns as well)! Nordstrom is my one-stop-shop and they have the best of the best in the world of products and their “beauty” section is so easy to navigate.
In this video you’ll find all of the products that I’m absolutely loving for the warmer months. I’ve been wearing this sunscreen-primer-foundation combo for the last month or so and it’s a beautiful finish, not too mattifying with longevity. Meaning, if you apply your makeup at 8am, it’ll look just as good by 5pm – VERY important! You guys, the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer might be my favorite item (other than the Lorac Unzipped Shimmer + Matte Eyeshadow Palette ) in this video!
Hear me out… the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer is water repellent! It repels water! It’s silky in texture, conceals redness, oil-free, has a bit of luminosity and has a built in SPF! In addition, it minimizes the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles!
Designed to repel water to keep your makeup looking freshly applied all day long, this primer extends the durability of any foundation or powder while providing broad-spectrum protection with titanium and zinc oxide. Its unique texture is fluid, airy, silky and cushiony and goes on weightlessly without ever being greasy, tacky or pearlized or balling up on your skin.
STEP BY STEP MAKEUP APPLICATION
Prior to my makeup application and after washing my face I apply the Fresh Rose Face Mask (blogged previously here). I leave it on for 5 minutes while I brush my teeth, lather myself in body lotion, apply dry shampoo, etc. This mask is a must have for any morning routine. Side note: thanks to Nordstrom’s free beauty samples, that’s how I got hooked on this product.
STEP 1 | EYE PRIMER + EYE SHADOW Lorac Unzipped Shimmer + Matte Eyeshadow Palette $42
a | Apply eye primer (included with purchase of shadow palette above) with fingers across the entire lid. *Another primer option is MAC Paint Pot Primer – color: Painterly with MAC Concealer.
b | Apply “highlight” shadow under the brow line – color, “undercover”. Use with the MAC Shaper Brush.
TIP: This simply just highlights below the brow. I apply this from the brow to where the natural arch of the eye starts. So basically, cover the top half of your eye in this color.
c | Next up cover the majority of the lid in color, “unreal” from the lash line up. It’s a gorgeous fleshy nude color with a hint of shimmer. Use with the MAC Shaper Brush.
TIP: This shadow goes from the lash line and stops right at the natural arch line against the shadow from above. If you split your eye in half, this color is the bottom half.
d | Shade + contour with a darker shadow to create definition using color, “uncensored” with the MAC Tapered Blending Brush.
e | Use the Bobbi Brown Ultrafine Brush and draw a slanted line from the outer corner up using color, “untamed”. Them use the MAC Tapered Blending Brush to blend.
TIP: You’ll want to start at the outside cover with Bobbi Brown Ultrafine Brush which is a precision angel brush and you’ll want to draw a sharp line up and then you’ll want to use the Tapered Blending Brush to blend the color. Small circular motions work great!

3 | PRIMER Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
ABOUT: Obsessed with this primer! Oil-free, weightless, SPF-15 protection and multipurpose! Conceals redness, minimizes pores, fine lines, wrinkles and shields skin! IT IS WATER REPELLENT!!! This product is perfect to wear alone with a powder or a foundation and setting powder combined!
4 | FOUNDATION Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick (I’m color, “buff”)
Apply this foundation stick with the Sigma Beauty Tapered Kabuki Brush. You can always mix this foundation with a liquid bronzer as well. It’s easy to build for a full coverage.
ABOUT: A foundation stick with the coverage of a concealer, the fluidity of a liquid and the weightlessness of a powder in a long-wearing waterproof formula for undetectable full coverage WITHOUT looking cakey or settling into fine lines and creases.
5 | CONCEALER NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (color “vanilla)
For day-to-day, under-eye concealer, I always rely on NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. Brush: Sigma Precision Brush (the best for blending concealer into the under-eye area).
6 | POWDER Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder (color “nude”)
I used the Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder and applied with MAC Large Powder Brush.
7 | BROWS Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brow Gel (color “Linda”)
ABOUT: A sculpt and shade gel, enriched with elasticizing wax and vitamin E, glides on like a dream while the first of its kind Micro-Fine Miracle Precision brush coats, shades and grooms every single hair for flawlessly defined brows in an instant.
8 | INNER CORNER SHADOW Lorac Unzipped Shimmer + Matte Eyeshadow Palette
Use color “unreal” from the palette with MAC Pencil Brush to shade around the inner corner of the eye.
9 | OUTER CORNER SHADOW Lorac Unzipped Shimmer + Matte Eyeshadow Palette
Use color “uncensored” from the palette with MAC Pencil Brush to shade around the inner corner of the eye.
10 | EYELINER MAC Fluidline
Line the entire top lid using MAC Fluidline color, “backtrack” with MAC Small Angle Brush.
TIP: You’ll want to use a piece of tissue to pull the bristles of the brush before dipping into the liner for a precise and sharp edge.
11 | BRONZER NARS Laguna Bronzer
Apply bronzer on the lower section of the cheek. Sculpt out using Sigma Beauty Spotlight Duster.
12 | BLUSH MAC Mineralize Blush (color “gentle”) with MAC Blush Brush
13 | BRONZER THAT ADDS A GLOW MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (color “global glow”) with Sigma Beauty Spotlight Duster.
14 | MASCARA Laura Geller Beauty Style Lash
Starting at the base of lashes, sweep mascara brush up and out toward lash tips. I apply several layers.
ABOUT: I’ve been testing this product out after I read great reviews. I really want to find a mascara that doesn’t break my lashes and is easy to remove. So far, I love this product. It’s lengthening and I swear this really does stretch my lashes. Love that it has jojoba wax and B5!
15 | LIPGLOSS Urban Decay Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss (color “naked”)
