I had the pleasure of beautifying one of my best-little-mama-friends, Kate from Dress Your Guests and today we’re bringing a fresh fall look! Because we’re still in that transition stage (I mean, it’s 90 degrees – yikes) I decided to go with a plum-wine lip. This is a beautiful shade to hop between seasons – summer to fall and winter to spring. The color that I used is by MAC in shade Rebel.
Before and After
Start with Eyes First
I’m loving the outcome of this eye. I used a shimmery nude/ gold and paired that with an antique brown. I love doing a semi-smokey eye where you only ‘smoke out’ the outer corner. I feel like it’s easier to wear from day to night, takes less time and it doesn’t scare the hubby’s as much!
I used three shadow colors to achieve Kate’s eye:
All That Glitters by MAC (all over color)
Antiqued by MAC (outer corner)
Embark by MAC (outer corner)
The trick to get this vibrant color is to use a primer. I’ve tried every primer out there and still come back to MAC Paint Pot in color Painterly. A primer will extend the life of your eye makeup, prevent smudging and that awful black eyeliner or mascara line that sometimes leaves that mark on your eyelid. Also, a primer will allow you to use less shadow! I love color Painterly, because it’s a good skin-tone color that looks great with all shadow colors.
Eyeshadow Progress
After I applied the primer and 3 shadow colors, I then applied a thin line of black eyeliner. To achieve a straight, thin line, I used MAC Angled Brush #266 and MAC Fluidline in color Backtrack. Once I applied the liner, I used a small lash line by Ardell, style #110. Coat with mascara and voila!
Next up, I applied foundation, powder, blush, highlighter and lipstick.
Kate’s wearing Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet in color #35 – I adore this foundation! It’s a heavier foundation, so just use a Beauty Blender to make it a little more transparent. Use any powder to set, on Kate today, I used a Translucent Powder by NARS. I finished her beautiful cheeks off with Orgasm by NARS and Champagne Pop by BECCA for that extra glow!
Look at that cheek glow!
Next up… apply this killer lip color, MAC in shade Rebel. A great transition color and looks beautiful on all skin tones! Thanks for following along, ladies! 🙂
