A random post today, but I thought it would be fun to write about all of Henry and mommy’s special moment together. I never want to forget this stage/ age in his life…. by far, the two’s (even with their challenges) have been my favorite. I also know things will change once his baby sister arrives. So, I guess the only way to bottle all of these memories up is to write about them.
I love the way this child looks up to me, it melts my heart! This bond I share with my son is something so special (I’m sure every mom experiences these same feelings)… never in a million years did I ever imagine loving and feeling love like this.
I pray this love never fades.

1.) Every morning Henry and I wake up (typically he’s in our bed) and we go into the kitchen. I pour each of us a glass of orange juice (in an actual glass b/c you know, he’s a “big boy” now) and we sit on the rug in the middle of our kitchen and share a peach and napkin together. He takes a bite and then mommy takes a bite, but mommy always holds the napkin. 😉 This typically happens around 6:30am.
2.) Every evening at bedtime Henry demands that mommy (and only mommy) lays beside him as he falls asleep. He snuggles in my arm and puts his head on my shoulder. Seriously, it’s the sweetest (when it doesn’t take 3 hours for him to fall asleep).
3.) Once a week Henry and I go for candy together. I know, I know, shame on me… but he’s a pretty healthy eater and doesn’t eat a lot of sweets to begin with. So, once a week the two of us get a small bag of candy and share it together. For days after our candy date he’ll say, “Mommy’s my best friend because she gives me candy”… 🙂 Little does he know, that mommy is the one who really wanted the candy.
4.) Every evening prior to bed we sit on the sofa side-by-side (specific places per Mr. Henry). He leans against my right arm and we typically watch Toy Story together. Daddy can’t sit next to him, only mommy.
5.) Little man notices when I actually get ready and he always tells me, “Mommy, you so boutiful”. Especially Saturday mornings before I leave for weddings. He knows how to make a mommy feel so good!
6.) In the middle of the night (typically 2am) Henry will wake up (normally, I’ll hear a big thud from his room upstairs, which is him getting out of bed, so I know he’s coming – not graceful). He’ll then walk into our room on my side of the bed, “Mommy, I cuddle with my Mommy”. He might push me off the bed some nights, or sleep diagnol, but he makes sure his arm is interlocked with mine. God, I love this child.
7.) We also share the same love for my pregnancy pillow, we call it “crazy pillow”. We’ll cuddle up in it together and he thinks it so good because it keeps us super “cozy” together!
8.) When I drop him off at school in the morning, he screams and cries. He LOVES school, but he’s really attached to mommy right now. It breaks my heart seeing him like this, but as I hand him off to a teacher (frog in the throat), he will look at me and say, “Mommy always comes back”. I mean… pass the tissues!
9.) “Mommy is my best fwiend”… at least 100x a day, I’m reminded of that.
10.) He kisses me on the lips with both of his hands wrapped around my neck and holds me so tight… he doesn’t just give me one kiss, but he’ll give me lots and lots of juicy kisses. He will also hold my hand (or leg if my hands are full) in stores and parking lots and he’ll say, “always stand by mommy’s side”.
11.) I was going to stop at #10, but another one that’s really sweet… if I say that I need to go shopping, run to the store or an errand, Henry will stop what he’s doing to come with me. He loves “going shopping” with mommy and this wasn’t until recently. He’s been great running errands. Home Goods is his jam and I’m thankful for their oversized and reasonable toy section. We typically end a shopping date with a cookie (or candy), whoops!
