How to wear a spring-like dress in the fall! The weather in Charlotte lately has been pushing 70’s, tights would be preferred with this ensamble, perhaps a sleek pair of riding boots, but b/c of the heat and my wool jacket… I created a spring/fall, vintage/ feminine look – perfect for this not so fall like weather.
Yesterday I blogged about upbeat tunes; today however, there’s one song that won’t leave my side. “And instead of saying all of your goodbyes – let them know. You realize that life goes fast. It’s hard to make the good things last. You realize the sun doesn’t go down. It’s just an illusion caused by the world spinning round”. This evening while running this song played {a long time fave} made me sad, as the holidays quickly approach and this being the second Christmas that my husband and I will spend together {ever}, it made me think about my parents and how this time last year they were happily married. This time this year not so much. Makes me sad that the very first Christmas that we’ll spend in Nebraska, together, married, with my family – it will also be the first Christmas celebrating as a broken family and introducing my husband to our new broken Christmas family traditions. This song played during my run, I cried for a second… but realized “it’s hard to make the good things last”. So I’m gonna try hard, hard to make our own family Christmas traditions that maybe I can introduce to my family? Together, we’ll make it a good one, a pact to myself! Oh, and PS… I’m totally making the hub get the ordainments + decor out of the storage unit, and on Sunday we will venture to the local Farmers Market where we will, together, pick out the best looking Carolina Fir of all time!
Speaking of which… anyone have any good Christmas traditions? During a run with Nicola she said they eat cookies for breakfast – I’m totally a fan of that! Leave a comment with traditions – let’s share!
Oh and that song… The Flaming Lips “Do you Realize” {oldie but oh-so goodie}.
{What I’m wearing} Dress: Anthro, a few years ago – last seen here worn in our engagement pictures. Blazer: Anthro, Heels: Banana Republic, Socks: Target, kids section. Clutch: given to me from a bestie as a BM gift, I believe she ordered these through a designer on Etsy. It’s actually one of my favorite clutches and I carry it all the time. Necklace: Stella&Dot.
{My Makeup} The norm and a deep lip. Such a fan of MAC, gloss color “pop mode-20“. Perfect for the fall.
{My Hair} SO EASY. Lose curls, swoop to one side of your head, let your hand kinda dangle and your hair dangle to one side, scoop your hair in one palm of your hands and then from there just begin pinning in place. Seriously this took like 2 mins after the lose curls are in place. Try it.
