Right before Henry turned 3, we started doing fun, little 1 mile, races with him. John and I both love to run and that’s kind of how our relationship started… just by running! Since having kids, it’s been hard to hit the pavement the way that I used to (and want to). But after races like this weekend, I’m quickly reminded why I loved running so much… truly, it’s a high! I love how excited Henry gets and how much he loves running as well! One mile isn’t much – only takes about 12 minutes when you’re a toddler, but it sure is run for them to cross that finish line!
We didn’t tell Henry about the race until Saturday… to prevent the, “is it race time yet” questions. However, at 4am on Sunday, he snuck into our room with his costume and race bib asking if it was time to go! At 6am, I finally caved and got up with him…
Here’s Henry around 7:30am (2-1/2 hours until race time) all suited up! Bib on, costume on and shoes on… ready to go! This picture just cracks me up! The most still he’s ever been!
Shortly after the above picture, he had a quick costume change…
A little clip that I recored as Henry crossed the finish line! Proud mama!
My sister and my brother in law joined us as well! 🙂
Saturday was busy! John worked in the yard and I was on kiddo duty! We went to Target, a birthday party, Lowes (for new plants) and then a block Halloween party. My sister and best friend joined us as well!
Cutest flamingo on the block!

Removed the dead mums and replanted my pots! Ok, it’s a thing… I guess everyone in the south struggles to keep mums alive, unless you live in an area with a lot of tree coverage.
I’ve had that trailing plant since March and haven’t cut it back once… it’s so pretty and SO EASY to keep alive! Now, what in the world is it?! Anyone? It has little red buds that appear throughout the year as well.
Love the white and purple pansies!
The cabbage and kale plants are so easy to keep alive… and only $4.99 at Lowes.
This picture of Henry appeared on my time hop! Couldn’t help, but do a side by side of my kiddos! Olive was 10 months to the day in this picture and Henry was 10-1/2 months!
Best book I’ve read in a long time! I highly recommend, ‘The Hands Free Mama’.
I ended the weekend with my favorite little helper! I’m so thankful that this little guy loves holiday’s, just as much as his mama! We’re having a few neighbors over on Halloween, so he put together little treat bags for everyone! Also, please check out his new slippers! LOL’s!
We also hung our cobwebs and Henry had the important job of decorating them in bats and spiders. I’ve never seen so many spiders in my life… he took his job to a whole new level! 😉
I’ve talked a lot about this on Instagram, but i cannot get over what a game changer year four is?! We’re less than 2 months away and I cannot believe how much he’s grown… no more tantrums, tempers, he’s easy reason with and so enjoyable to be around. I love this age! I let John have some one-on-one Olive time, while Henry and I just decorated for Halloween… it was pretty sweet and he was in the best mood and gets so excited when I let him help me with projects. My favorite part, was how he decorated the table with his favorite toys. He wanted his “friends” (the toys) to enjoy Halloween too. 🙂
Thanks for reading friends… sorry it didn’t involve shopping or makeup!
Xoxo!
